What are the best drones you can buy in Malaysia? What is the cheapest place to buy drones online in Malaysia?
Drones are more than fun. They give each one of us the ability to see our world from a different view for a decent, affordable prices, which is absolutely amazing.
We all want a good quality drone which will have a good image, and will be compact and comfortable to use.

There are basically 4 ways to buy your drone in Malaysia:
- The drone’s company website (as with Dji’s Drones).
- Amazon (use this tutorial to do so).
- Lazada Malaysia.
- Other online stores.
So what’s the cheapest option to buy drones online in Malaysia?
The answer is that it’s different for each drone.
So without further ado, here is a list of my favorite 5 drones, and where you can buy these drones online for the cheapest price in Malaysia:
Dji Phantom 4
Dji Phantom 4 is probably the best-selling drone Dji has. It is truly a great piece of technology.
The Phantom 4 is quite a big drone with amazing features like the “Tap Fly” and the “Visual Trackig” modes. It’s able to capture videos in 4K and has a 12MP resolution for still images.
The disadvantage of the Phantom (unlike the next drone) is that it is not that compact. Since it’s not foldable, in order to move it you have to carry a bag especially for the drone and the remote.
Usually, the cheapest price for DJI’s drones is in their online store. Unfortunately, they don’t ship to Malaysia. However, I talked to them, and they might be able to ship to Malaysia in the near future. I’ll update it here, so stay tuned.
The best way at the moment to buy the Phantom 4 in Malaysia is from Lazada Malaysia.
Dji Mavic Pro
The Dji Mavic Pro is another great drone by Dji. The main difference between the Mavic Pro and the Phantom 4 is that the Mavic is more compact. Way more compact. You can easiely take it in your normal bag insted of taking a whole bag just for it (as you have to do with the Phantom 4).
The Mavic Pro has also some of the features which the Phantom 4 has, follow me mode, obstacle avoidance and more.
With all these benefits, there is also one disadvantage. Image quality. Well, for some of us that’s the most important thing when buying a drone. I’m not saying it is bad, not at all, it’s just, for my opinion, not as good as the Phantom 4 and the GoPro drones’s image quality. Less sharp, less wide, less colorful and that’s quite a bummer when the drone is so good in all other aspects.
As you’ll see in the video below, it’s video quality is not as good as the Phantom, but it’s mobility and convenience definitely make you think again.
For Dji’s Mavic Pro, the cheapest place to buy it is through Amazon.
Now for my personal favorite: the Yuneec Q500 or Typhoon 4K. This drone is great in almost all parameters. It’s simple to flight, has some
great automatic modes such as “follow me” and “watch me”, and its camera is great.
It has a maximum flight time of 25 minutes and an extra battery included (most drones have only one). That’s what makes the Typhoon 4k great for long shootings.
Its only disadvantage is the maximum flight range, while the Dji’s can fly as far as 5-7 kilometers, the Typhoon 4K can only reach the maximum of 800 meters. That’s a bit disappointing, but unless you use it for secret comando missions, 800 meters is often just about enough. Make your own considerations.
Yuneec are not shipping the Typhoon Q500 4K to Malaysia, and its price in Lazada is unreasonable, so the best option to buy this drone is from Amazon. Amazon’s price for the Yuneek Typhoon 4K is the same as in the original website.
The 3DR Solo is a wonderful drone and it has one main difference from the droves above. While both the Phantom 4 and the Mavic Pro use a built in camera, the 3DR Solo is sold without a camera. It’s compatible with the GoPro models Hero 3, Hero 3+, and Hero 4.
It has couple of benefits; The drone itself is alot cheaper, and if you already have a GoPro camera you won’t have to pay twice. In addition, the seperation gives you the option to use the GoPro camera for many different uses. As a sports/action camera or any other kind of shooting.
The 3DR Solo drone has some great features, such as “follow me” modes, preplanned paths, and more autopilot modes.
Since there’s a cable which connects your GoPro camera to the 3DR Solo drone, it’s controller gives you the ability to control both the camera and the drone itself.
Here we have another “sold-without-camera” drone, this time by GoPro themselves.
This drone is definitely the most user-friendly drone in the list. It has super simple flying modes and the easy to use controller. The GoPro Karma really shows that you don’t have to be an expert in order to get the maximum out of your drone.
Considering Karma’s simplicity along with the automatic obstacle avoidance system and you have a great quality drone that’s great for both rookies and pros.
Camera wise, the Karma can come as “drone only” or with bundled with the GoPro Hero5. Important to know, that it’s compatible also with the Hero4.
Cheapest Place to buy: Amazon.
